The Bursary Programme aims to empower and support the careers of South African youth, and pledges to provide skills development opportunities to Historically Disadvantaged Persons (HDPs). The programme provides financial funding towards a degree at partner South African universities. By doing so, we want to be part of the solution to South Africa’s skills shortages, with a focus on the finance and insurance sectors.

Qualifying unemployed learners registered or accepted to study at a Historically Disadvantaged Tertiary Institutions (HDTI) for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies will be considered for this programme.

Criteria for selection

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be between the ages of 18 and 35
  • You must have an average of 75% in the year that you are applying for the bursary
  • You must have a proven financial need, as determined by prescribed NSFAS household income criteria

What's on offer:

  • A comprehensive bursary for full time students
  • TIH will provide a laptop, limited data and insurance on the device
  • Specific allowances for transport and personal care
  • All fees will be payable directly to the institution, and devices will be purchased by TIH and supplied to the student.
